Notes: Note basename paths
The names of the note files are simply three-character IDs starting
from 000 and including numbers as well as lowercase
characters (e.g., 0b9.md is my note about the city of
Macau).
With this schema I can create a total of (10 + 26)³ > 46e3 notes,
which I think suffices. If I ever reach that limit, that will mean I’ve
been very successful writing notes; I can, at that point, adopt
uppercase characters, which would increase the namespace to 238e3 notes.
Or add a fourth digit (1.7e6). As of 2025-07-29 I’m still far from that,
though: the last note I’ve created is 3fj.md (4.4e3
notes).
I have a symbolic link index.md to my main entry point
note (note 0a9.md). This is used by my :zki
(Zettelkasten Index) command to take me to the “index” into my
notes.
