James Hoffmann: V60 Technique
Preparation
Preheat the brewer.
Grind fairly fine. 21 clicks in Comandante.
Water temperature:
- Dark roast: 80 to 90 C
- Medium roasts: 90 to 95 C
- Light roasts: 100 C
Execution
For 15 g of coffee:
- 0:00: Bloom
- 0:00 to 0:10: Pour 50 g of water to bloom.
- 0:10 to 0:15: Gentle swirl
- 0:45: 1st pour & pause
- 0:45: Pour 50 g of water (total weight: 100 g)
- 1:00 Pause
- 1:10: 2nd pour & pause
- 1:10: Pour 50 g of water (total weight: 150 g)
- 1:20 Pause
- 1:30: 3rd pour & pause
- 1:30: Pour 50 g of water (total weight: 200 g)
- 1:40: Pause
- 1:50 to 2:00: 4th pour
- 1:50 to 2:00: Pour 50 g of water (total weight: 250 g)
- 2:00 to 2:05: Gentle swirl
