📚: Turning to Birds, Lili Taylor

Delightful little collection of anecdotes on the topic of birding, of actively listening. The writing is non-pretentious and plain, the stories simple.
It’s not particularly deep, but that’s okay —it doesn’t aspire to be. Instead, it feels refreshingly genuine.
It worked well as a palate cleanser nested among the emotionally heavy stories I’ve been reading lately.
Taylor explores briefly the skills required for birding —listening, attention, investigation, observation, perception, specificity— and finds parallels to her acting career.
