🎬 Ali G: Who Iz I? (2026)

I have been a big fan of Baron Cohen for a long time. I found some of his early Ali G work very funny, skits such as Veterans vs Veterinarians or Respek. So, despite its incredibly cold reception, I had to watch Ali G: Who Iz I?.
Baron Cohen is an incredibly talented actor and filmmaker. I liked Borat and a few of his other films. But his talents feel wasted on this film, which I found disappointing, best forgotten. It just isn’t entertaining.
I know someone with a strange sense of humor. He has a very annoying trait. When his incredibly nerdy or insensitive jokes fail to elicit the response he expects —which, alas, happens frequently—, this person doubles down on them, repeating them, more loudly, dialing the absurd up to eleven. Yikes!
I guess these cringe fake documentaries aren’t really my thing. Where Baron Cohen being silly and making a fool of himself in the original Ali G was amusing and creative, Who Iz I is just tired and lazy. I don’t mind the shock value, but this was a waste of time. Sad to see him Ali G sink this low.
